So when you’re drowning in reality television, and you just want some pure scripted drama to watch (yes, some could argue that reality TV is in fact scripted), you don’t have to flip too far to find a slew of choices.
First off, I’d stick with the cable or premium cable channels if you want a show that actually requires a bit of brain activity to watch. Number one on my list right now is The Walking Dead on AMC, which has its Fall premiere slated for this Sunday at 8 p.m. You can’t go wrong with a show about a group of folks forever stuck in a world full of zombies, with no cure for the forseeable future. Pure flesh-eating goodness—and not a bad place to find tips for survival in such a world.
Then there’s my longtime love, True Blood. Yeah, there’s a trend. I tend to love the gore and supernatural/paranormal type shows. So sue me. But heck, HBO sure knows how to bring it with their scripted dramas, and True Blood is a prime example. Really—who needs more than a love triangle involving two vamps and a fairy? Absolutely no one. Happy couch-potatoing!
