Texas Wesleyan women’s golf team made history on Mon. Sept. 10 when they competed and co-hosted their first tournament in program history. The Hawks Creek Classic took place in Westworth Village, Texas.
Competition was tough going up against Dallas Baptist University and Oklahoma Christian University with a competition of 47 players. After day one the Lady Rams took sixth place in the team standings with 337 points.
On day one the Lady Rams did not back down without a fight against Dallas Baptist University with a score of 313 and Oklahoma Christian with a score of 320. Competition was tough with only 24 points between Dallas Baptist and Wesleyan.
Deborah Dover, junior, lead day one with an 81, followed by freshman Ally Harvey and freshman Stephanie Myers, who each shot an 84. McKenzie Brown, freshmen, finished day one with an 85.
Brown lead the team with an 84 on day two, followed by Elena Cervantez, freshman, with an 84 and Harvey with an 86. The Lady Rams took sixth place over all in the tournament.
Medalists include Jessica Liptak, freshman, with an overall score of 174, Myers with a 183 and Kerry Zastoupil, freshman, with a 192.
