The Texas Wesleyan baseball team played against Mid-America Christian University in a doubleheader Feb. 2 in Fort Worth, Texas at La Grave Field.
The first game was a 3-0 win, with all three runs scored in the third inning. David Kiriakos, senior shortstop, earned a spot on the plate after an error from the Evangels. Kiriakos stole to third while Henry Yates, senior outfielder, walked to first. Joel Rickman, sophomore shortstop, made a RBI (Runs Batted In) to put the Rams up 3-0 at the end of the third inning.
The Evangels couldn’t earn a run with Nolan Barbee, senior right handed pitcher, throwing a total of nine strikeouts for the game and only allowing two hits.
In the second game, the Rams earned their second win of the day, 9-2.
This game started out much different than the first with the Evangels scoring two runs in the first inning. The Evangels did not have the lead for long because the Rams battled it out and earned five runs and by the end of the inning, Rams were up 5-2.
In the second inning Trevor Moon, junior outfielder, scored off an error and the Rams took a bigger lead 6-2. Alex Padilla, senior catcher, and Brian White, senior catcher, also contributed to the score in the fifth inning gaining three more runs for the Rams. The final score of game two was 9-2.
The Rams will slide into action again on Feb. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in Fort Worth, Texas against Oklahoma City University.
