The Texas Wesleyan men’s basketball program had been on a six-game losing streak until Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. when the Rams played conference competitor, Paul Quinn College. The Rams took away the game with a 104-77 win.

The Rams gained an early lead on the Tigers and did not let up. Oscar Griffin, senior guard, and Mo Weathers, senior guard, gave Wesleyan a quick eight point lead with just shy of 10 minutes of play left in the first half. The Tigers were down at half time 46-32.

Brian Talley, senior guard and accounting major, said this was a much-needed win.

“We played well, and needed a win to build up some momentum up because we are going into the conference tournament soon,” Talley said.

The beginning of the second half was a nail-biter because Paul Quinn went on a quick 6-0 run, but the Rams fought back claiming their home gym. Mo Weathers, senior guard, had an impressive game scoring a game high 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists. Weathers earned his first double-double and falling just shy of a triple-double.

The Rams will play again on Mon. Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center against Bacone College.
