Traveling to Muskogee, Oklahoma, the Texas Wesleyan’s baseball team played their first Red River Athletic Conference series against Bacone College Feb. 23-24. The Rams played three games and ended up 1-2.
The baseball team’s overall record is 11-7, and 1-2 in the RRAC. Bacone College is 10-7 overall and 2-1 in the RRAC.
In the first game, the Rams started off hot with Brian White, senior catcher, hitting a double earning a 1-0 lead for the Rams in the first inning. It did not take long for the Rams to score another run in the second inning with a hit from Kaden Arnsberg, freshmen first and second basemen. By the end of the second inning the Rams were beating the Warriors 2-0.
With two homeruns and a hit in the fifth inning, the Rams continued to put runs on the scoreboard. The Warriors, however, did manage to earn two runs in the fifth as well, making the game a little bit more interesting but the Rams pulled it out 5-2.
The second game happened a little different for the Rams. Although Wesleyan gained an early lead like before, the Warriors fought right back with a 2 run first inning. Wesleyan did earn one more run but after that, both teams could not seem to gain a run until the Warriors broke scoreless innings and took the 3-2 lead.
The Rams remained with their two runs for the remainder of the game, losing 4-2.
The last game of the series resulted in a 4-0 against the Warriors. Bacone earned a 3-0 lead in the first inning alone, putting the Rams behind early. Neither team scored until the seventh inning when the Warriors scored one more run to finish off the Rams 4-0.
The Rams will play again on March 1. at 2 p.m. against Louisiana State University-Shreveport in Fort Worth, Texas.
