Seniors on the Texas Wesleyan men’s basketball team played their senior night game against University of the Southwest on Sat. Feb. 23 in the Sid Richardson Center.

The Rams scored more than 100 points for the game beating USW 116-84. USW is currently 1-21 in the Red River Athletic Conference while the Rams are 11-11. The Rams played their three seniors for most of the game. Brian Talley, senior guard, Oscar Griffin, senior guard, and Chris Angsomwine, senior post, all contributed to the win.

Talley had an outstanding career-high of 16 assists while Griffin added 20 points and five boards for the game. Angsomwine had eight points and six rebounds to add to the game. Although it was senior night, other players contributed as well. Jazz Holman, junior guard, had his first double-double with 17 points and 10 assists. Kyle Preston, sophomore guard, added a career-high 26 points to the scoreboard. Dallas Jones, junior guard, added 20 points as well. The Rams played excellent team basketball and shot 65 percent from the field.

Talley said the team played well with a few minor slip ups.

“We had some careless turnovers but hopefully it will give us momentum going into the tournament,” Talley said.

The Rams have ended conference play and will be entering in the RRAC conference tournament at the Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Their first game will be against Our Lady of the Lake University at 8 p.m. Everyone come out and support our Rams on the road to the conference championship!
