The softball team of Texas Wesleyan played the University of the Southwest on Apr. 12-13 in Hobbs, New Mexico. The Lady Rams competed in a three game series but fell short 2-1.

In the first game on Apr. 12, the Lady Rams fell behind in the first inning but tied it in the second when Kendall Kizer, sophomore second basemen, gained two runs for Wesleyan, 2-2.

Unfortunately, those were the only two runs the Lady Rams could score in the first game, and the Lady Mustangs put up six more runs to finalize the score 8-2.

The second game was much different for the Lady Rams, although they fell behind in the first inning again, the Lady Rams fought back. Ashley Seibel, junior second basemen, and Emily Burch, senior third basemen, both hit singles to tie the game for the Lady Rams; 2-2.

The fourth inning proved victorious for the Lady Rams, scoring five runs in this single inning alone. Chelsey Durbin, junior utility player, Kizer, Seibel, and Kali Jester, junior utility player, all contributed to the five runs which put Wesleyan up 7-2. Amber Tucker, freshmen outfielder, hit a double to put two more runs on the scoreboard for Texas Wesleyan. Burch also helped add runs and the Lady Rams finished game two with an 11-3 win.

In the last game, the Lady Mustangs earned six runs with in the first four innings and the Lady Rams only earned two runs for the game. The Lady Mustangs scored two more runs before the game was over and the Lady Rams lost game three 6-2.

The Lady Rams will play their last conference game against Bacone College Apr. 20 in Fort Worth, Texas.
