Texas Wesleyan University will host a Veterans Day Celebration on the mall, on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The time changed to 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m. a shorter amount of time because of cold weather.

The event will feature food, music and activities. The Heather Roberts Band will be playing on the mall. to accompany the ongoing fun, said the Texas Wesleyan Veterans Club web-site.

Veterans at Wesleyan are represented by both professors and students.

“Veterans Day is important because it reminds people that serving in the military is not something that any Americans can do, it takes strength and courage,” said Jeremiah Johnson, a Wesleyan student and US army veteran.

“When I was in combat, I saw my friends die, so Veterans Day is a good time to remember the sacrifices that American sons and daughters made throughout this countries history,” Johnson said.

Veterans Day represents honor, respect, and the price Americans pay to keep the country free, said Kadedra Miller, Financial Aid Counselor/VA Certifying Official at Wesleyan.

“This day is important because no matter where or when we were in the military or what our job was, each of us were part of a whole. I am grateful to be a part of something that is bigger than me,” Miller said.
