“The concert is the kick-off event of Alumni Weekend.” said Christine Beason ,director of Instrumental Studies. “All music alumni will be invited to join us on stage for one piece.”

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and features Flourish for Winds Bands by Ralph Vaughn Williams, Lux Aurumque by Erik Whitacre, Vesuvius by Frank Ticheli, Pageant by Persichetti and First Suite in E flat by Hoist.

The Wind Ensemble is composed of musicians on flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.

“The difference between Wind Ensemble and band is that it is smaller and more advanced,” Beason said.
