Are you tired of the stereotypical Valentine’s Day date?  For couples seeking a night of thrill and learning to trust your loved one, Hangman’s House of Horrors is offering a new event, 50 Shades of Fear.  This isn’t your typical haunted house.  You or your loved one will be blindfolded while going through the house, left to trust the other to guide you through safely.

“Hangman’s has received some great feedback from this event,” said Ryan Miller, a Hangman’s volunteer of 11 years. “We had a couple tell us that the husband was blindfolded and he was guided by his wife through the whole house. The husband said he had never felt closer to his wife. It felt really good to get a review like that we actually brought people together. I couldn’t be happier with what we are doing.”

This event is just one of many changes to Hangman’s over the last year.

“We have been going a little bit darker and taking it a little further than we have before, which is great,” Miller said. “With this event it was taking a big risk, but it has turned into a big time reward.”

Allen Sturgeon is the owner and operator of Hangman’s.  Sturgeon and his friends brainstormed about new ideas together, “Me and a couple of my friends were sitting around saying, ‘what are we going to do to make this different?'” Sturgeon said. “We realized 50 shades was coming out during the weekend. So my buddy said, “make someone go through blindfolded and let them go through as couples.’ I knew that was perfect.”

Sturgeon looked for other haunted houses that were doing something like this, but was unable to find any. Reassuring him that this event would be truly unique to Hangman’s.  Many places offer lights out shows, but that is something that Hangman’s does during their regular season.

If you are looking for things to do during spring break, Hangman’s is featuring Scream Break Weekend in March.  The event will take place on Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th.
