The Texas Wesleyan Lady Rams volleyball team took down the College of the Ozarks (AR) Bobcats in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Volleyball Tournament on Nov. 11 at the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
The No.2 ranked Lady Rams looked to take care of business at home against the No.7 Bobcats. Aminah Orozco, Lady Rams head volleyball coach, said the team was focused after a weekend of preparation leading up to this match.
“It’s a great feeling,” Orozco said. “Coming back, having a little team talk from this past weekend and them to come out and stay locked in and really executing the game plan.”
The Lady Rams dominated all three sets against the Bobcats as players like Lyric Biggiers, senior middle back, scored 16 kills and had a .464 hit percentage.
“[It was] just allowing our teammates to lean on each other and press where we needed to and put the ball in the right spots,” Biggiers said.

With the Bobcats eliminated, the Lady Rams have their eyes set on the Nelson University Lions, a team that handed them their first loss of the season. Lauran Richards, senior outside help, said the team looks forward to playing against them at home. The Lady Rams have homecourt advantage throughout the tournament.
“We have one win and one losing streak, and we’re just excited to go beat them on our home court once again,” Richards said.
The Lady Rams head into the SAC tournament semi-finals against the Oklahoma City University Stars on Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Gymnasium.
