Both men’s and women’s Texas Wesleyan Rams tennis teams celebrated their graduating seniors before their matches against Collin County Community College at the Arlington Tennis Center on April 10.
Seniors were presented with placards from head coach Wade Morgan consisting of an action shot and their name. In addition, teammates made their seniors a keepsake poster.
The ceremony was emotionally charged, Morgan said.
“It’s always bittersweet,” Morgan said. “It’s been a great year and we’re not done yet, so we’re hoping to send them off on a positive note.”
As the season nears an end, senior mass communications major Kaja Brunzlow expressed satisfaction.

“It’s a very complex sport and definitely the biggest goal of mine as a senior was to just let myself play and actually enjoy tennis, which I’ve achieved quite recently,” Brunzlow said. “So I’m very happy and I’m ready to be done, you know?”
Senior business and accounting double major Carla Arce Fernandez says she found a support system within teammates which helped evolve her game.
“When I first came here, I was playing more individually, and I learned how to play as a team and with other people supporting,” Fernandez said. “I think I changed a lot, and I’m so grateful.”
Rams’ tennis head coach Wade Morgan is excited to see the family he’s made through the team move onto new, exciting chapters.

“It’s just as exciting to see a chapter close in their lives and then moving on to bigger and better and to see what the next step holds for them is going to be really exciting,” Morgan said. “Whether they play for the team for one year, one semester, or three years, four years, they’re always a member of the family.”
The Rams tennis teams final home match will be against Weatherford College at McLeland Tennis Center on April 14 at 1 p.m.
