A fire sprinkler line burst causing three West Village on-campus apartments to flood.
Winter weather conditions caused the water line to freeze and break in the attic of West Village building two, Senior Director for Facilities Brian Franks said. West Village buildings 233, 223 and 213 have all been affected by subsequent flooding.
At approximately 11:35 a.m., the break caused a fire alarm to sound and residents to evacuate. Senior liberal studies major Kayla Fuller is a resident in one of the flooded apartments.
“At first we didn’t know what was going on, and then we walked outside and there’s water all over the place,” Fuller said.

The Fort Worth fire department, Texas Wesleyan maintenance and a restoration company are all active on the scene to extract water and assess damages.
“We’re working with a restoration company to get the water removed and also a fire sprinkler company to come and repair that sprinkler,” Franks said.
Residence Life is currently working to relocate affected students, Franks said.
