Hundreds of family members and friends gathered on Saturday to witness the spring 2015 Texas Wesleyan University commencement ceremony.
More than one hundred undergraduates received their diplomas at the ceremony, which was held at the church on the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary campus.
In addition, Alvin Benskin received his doctorate in education, and 37 students received their master’s degrees.
Louella Baker Martin, president of LBM Investments and Management Company and a Wesleyan trustee, gave the commencement address.
“You have a journey ahead of you,” Martin said. “Life will take you from the comfortable shores of home and take out into the rough seas of the world. “
Richard Horvats, an education major, said he was excited to graduate.
“It took two years at community college and then two years at Wesleyan but I made the right choice and hung in there,” Horvats said.
Melissa Martinez, who graduated with a degree in technology, noted her favorite things about attending Wesleyan.
“I liked the communication with the teachers,” Martinez said. “They are always available for you and I loved the personal attention.”
