Students shake Sid Richardson at Ram Rally

The Texas Wesleyan girl’s basketball team and head coach Steve Trachier shook the Sid Richardson Center during the Ram Rally Monday night during their lip sync performance of “The Wobble.”

The lip sync battle was a part of the pep rally for the men’s and women’s teams. Michelle Feyisetan and Cameron Bennet emceed the event.

“This might have been the best pep rally we have had so far,” Bennet said. “My favorite part was the lip sync battle. It was amazing.”

The Gold Line dancers won the lip sync battle with their performance of Will Smith’s “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” Dance team captain Arlyssa Moaning said she was really excited by the student turn out at the rally.

“I think homecoming at Texas Wesleyan has evolved,” Moaning said. “Now we have a big week of all these events and I really think it is cool. It helps get students involved with things going on campus.”

Cheerleader Taylor Peyton said the pep rally was really fun and a great way to get everyone involved.

“This is my first pep rally as a cheerleader. It was really fun and a little nerve wracking. My stomach started hurting when the music started but this is like our family, so it was great,” Peyton said. “Rams up!”

The homecoming court was also announced during the game. It consists of Zack Lanham, Jacob Williams, Qualon Gray, Phuong Le, Madison Baker and Kaylia Brown. After the court was announced, they threw shirts to the crowd, causing everyone in the stands to jump up. Students can vote for homecoming king and queen Nov. 1-3 in an upcoming email.

Homecoming events include the Midnight Breakfast starting at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday in the Sid Richardson gym, followed by a powder puff game at IM field at 5 p.m. Wednesday. There will be a block party on Dora’s Lawn at 5 p.m. Thursday and a talent show Friday at 7 p.m. in Martin Hall. The Wesleyan 5K race is Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Oneal-Sells Administration Building and the homecoming game starts at 2 p.m. at Farrington Field.
