Texas Wesleyan held a pep rally to commemorate the spring sports teams in the Martin Center ballroom on Feb. 20.
In honor of the new semester and spring sports in full swing, Wesleyan put together a pep rally that included sports teams, cheerleaders, music and student organizations.
Payton Granberry, a cheerleader and first-year chemistry major, loves to celebrate and cheer with the community at the pep rally.
“It’s super fun to just get everybody hyped and dance around and spread school spirit,” Granberry said. “It’s just a super, fun and upbeat place to be.”
Some students like Jocelyn Lopez, a junior biology major, would have preferred to have the pep rally outside like it was last semester. It had to be moved to the ballroom due to the unpredictable weather.
“I would definitely prefer [the pep rally] to be outside,” Lopez said. “I feel like that gets people louder and more interactive.”
The faculty who organized the event were proud of the turnout and think there should be more staff involved in the pep rally.
“I think there should be more social events where we can not only get the students but the faculty and staff to come out and be a ramily,” said Tamika Johnson, the main pep rally organizer and coordinator to the dean of the school of arts and sciences.
