The Rambler Media Group received 29 awards for journalistic excellence at the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association’s 2015 convention in San Antonio.
The awards include first place for Best Website Navigation for therambler.org and second in the Best of Show newspaper category for the Feb. 11, 2015 print edition. In 2014 the RMG won 19 awards.
The 2015 TIPA conference was held April 8-11.
“This is the most we have ever won,” said Dr. Kay Colley, RMG’s student media director. “We did well in the online categories and in the podcast sections and we have some things that we are continuing to do well on and I am looking forward to us even improving on that.”
The RMG “branching out beyond just the newspaper over the past few years is starting to reap benefits,” said Dr. Steven Daniell, dean of the School of Arts and Letters.
Daniell said he believes that the Mass Communication Department’s curriculum redesign will reinforce the gains made by the Rambler Media Group in the next several years.
“Although the MCO redesign has been a while in coming, it has actually followed Ram Media rather than the other way around,” Daniell said.
