SGA approves adding money to Honorarium account

Texas Wesleyan’s Student Government Association voted on Tuesday to add money to the Honorarium account.

The SGA approved adding $500 to the account from the SGA legislation account for the remainder of the semester.

Honorarium money helps qualifying students with academic needs.

Updates were given by SGA Secretary Zurra Hemani about the approved extension dates for the Travel Abroad Scholarship. News of the new date to apply for the scholarship was also sent out in a mass email by Dean of Students Dennis Hall.

Hemani also gave updates regarding the second listening session for the men’s football and women’s lacrosse on Nov. 12.

SGA Treasurer Lyndsey Bessinger announced that Wesleyan is working on having a canned food drive Nov. 9 through Nov. 25.

Things that people can bring include canned meat, peanut butter and boxed foods, Bessinger said.

A central location will be announced for drop off of the food drive items.

Michelle Payne, associate professor of political science also reminded SGA members and audience to get to the right advisor for their classes.

Theatre Wesleyan’s production of The School for Scandal will begin on Nov. 14 and run for two weeks, SGA president’s assistant Clarissa Murillo said.

“If anything, come and watch the dresses that I made and it’s all in British so it’s fun,” Murillo said.

SGA President Abbey Borghee encouraged students to fill out surveys they are receiving and to attend the football and lacrosse listening session on Nov. 12.

“Wesleyan really wants to hear the students’ opinion,” Borghee said.

She also said she is still working on getting fees lowered or dropped for transcripts.
