Fall break starts Friday and Texas Wesleyan students are looking forward to the brief respite from homework and tests.
Elspeth Harris, a junior computer science major, said she was spending time around the house.
“Probably just house maintenance,” she said. “Oh, there is a wedding I’m going to. Other than that, probably just sleeping.”
Many of the 15 students interviewed about fall break had the same idea Harris did, which is catching up on much-needed sleep.
Stephanie Ramirez is volunteering during fall break. The time off from school allows her to participate in her passion for community involvement.
“I’m canvassing for local political candidates in the surrounding area, I’m also doing a phone-bank for a candidate,” said the senior political science major.
Ramirez’s interest in the political process comes as no surprise from those that know her.
Some students plan on spending time with both family and friends while on break.
Samantha Smoot, a senior psychology major, plans to spend time with family, friends, and in service to the Ram community.
“I’m going to Six Flags for Fright Fest with my family,” she said. “On Saturday I’m going to help pass out programs at the football game with my sorority.”
The Rams will be taking on the Langston University Lions on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Farrington Field. Smoot and other members of Alpha Xi Delta sorority will be passing out the programs.
