Despite the rainy weather, Texas Wesleyan University celebrated the fall season and Halloween on Wednesday with Pumpkins in the Grove.

Due to the weather forecast, the event was moved from outside the West Library to inside.

Faculty, staff and students came dressed up in costumes, enjoyed free food and brought bags of candy and some pumpkins to decorate for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Fort Worth.

Sonja D. Gaddy, program coordinator for Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, said that the event is part of Wesleyan Connect and is meant to build community.

“The whole idea behind it, was to have an event that could bring facility, staff and students together to collaborate this fall season,” Gaddy said.

Gaddy said she is happy that they had the library as a backup plan to have this event.

“This is perfect weather to be outdoors. However, it can rain or a big gust of wind can come through,” Gaddy said.

Junior marketing major Taylor Ray came out for the free hot dogs and chips and was happy that she got to leave class early.

“I didn’t even know about this event until my instructor Dr. Meghan Wright

told me about it,” Ray said.

Barbara Barnhart, assistant director for Student Engagement, came out to support her coworkers and Wesleyan students.

“I preferably would have this event outside but with the weather, it’s nice that it’s inside,” she said.
