Grad Kickoff was held Tuesday at Lou’s Place for all fall graduates.
The event invited graduating seniors to “kick off” their last semester by signing up to participate in upcoming ceremonies, order regalia, and gather important information about their final semester.
For senior religion major Mariah Brown, signing up for her cap and gown was an exciting reminder of what’s to come.
“I’m excited to go to into seminary,” Brown said, “to continue my studies and further my career.”
Students weren’t the only ones enjoying the event. Taylor Mcdonald, an ambassador for Herff Jones, the company that provides regalia and rings, said her favorite part of seeing students graduate is the excitement of the accomplishment.
“It definitely takes a lot to get through school; we know that it can be difficult sometimes,” Mcdonald said. “So it’s fun to see that you’re finally towards the end of the road and you get to celebrate.”
While checking with students to ensure their names were included on the list of graduates, assistant registrar Linda Humphrey stressed the importance of these types of events to the Texas Wesleyan community.
“I think it is important to come together as a community to celebrate and give students information about graduation in one easy and convenient location,” Humphrey said.
Grad Kickoff is not the end of this semester’s graduation festivities. Fall Grad Finale will be held 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 21 at Lou’s Place, according to txwes.edu. Students will be able to pick up their regalia and tickets and take care of any last-minute graduation needs.
