On Sept. 26, Wesleyan academic advisor Caroline Frey organized the “Meet the Majors” career fair at Lou’s Place.
Frey, along with other academic advisors and professors, helped students determine which major or minor fit with their interests. Anthony Cruz, freshman computer information system major, came to figure out his career path and to help his friend find an additional minor.
“I just wanted to check out other stuff too because I’m doing a music minor as well,” Cruz said. “My friend Eric needs to find a minor so I’m trying to help look for them.”
Sydney Carbajal, first-year undecided student, declared an official biology major at “Meet the Majors” to help her get into medical school.
“It feels good, it feels relieving because I didn’t know what to do exactly, but I feel better now,” Carbajal said.
Muhye Hammattah, director of advising and retention, said students were interested in new academic programs and that made him the most excited.
“Seeing them actually being excited a pathway for them is gold,” Hammattah said. “You’re able to sit them down, show them the way for different majors and where it takes them, and just seeing it click in their head. It is very rewarding.”
