Texas Wesleyan’s women’s basketball team has forfeited four games played in February, according to Athletic Director Steve Trachier.
The games were forfeited because a student-athlete “became ineligible when progress reports came out during the spring semester,” Trachier wrote Friday in an email.
“When we became aware of the infraction after the progress reports came out, we immediately self-reported the violation and voluntarily forfeited games in which the ineligible player played,” Trachier wrote.
The forfeited games were against the University of Science and Arts (Feb.7), Saint Gregory’s University (Feb.12), Southwestern Christian University (Feb.19), and Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Feb.28).
Reached by phone on Friday, Trachier declined to name the player. He said her ineligibility was discovered several weeks ago, and officials at the Sooner Athletic Conference were immediately notified.
