Zahraa Saheb has been elected the new Student Government Association vice president, according to a Texas Wesleyan official.
Saheb, currently SGA’s Freshman Student Representative, was elected last week via online voting, according to Dean of Students Dennis Hall.
“It’s a great honor and I am very thrilled for next year and all the things I can accomplish here on our campus,” Saheb wrote in an email. “As the Vice-President, first, I hope to aid the new SGA President, Abbey Borghee, in all the great things she will accomplish.”
Saheb received 51percent of the vote, Hall said, adding that 13.5 percent of Wesleyan students voted.
“I am so thrilled to see the student body get so involved. The students’ voice was heard and our new SGA Vice President has been elected,” Borghee, who ran unopposed for president, wrote in an email. “I can say that all three ladies did an outstanding job of campaigning, but ultimately the decision was up to the student body.”
Borghee, who is currently SGA’s vice president, wrote that she is looking forward to working with Saheb and believes they will make a good team.
“We are ready and very excited to serve the student body and do our best in making positive changes for Texas Wesleyan University,” Borghee wrote.
