Texas Wesleyan’s Student Government Association voted on Nov. 19 to help fund a celebration for graduating seniors.
The senior toast, Cheers, is a tradition that SGA began last spring with Alumni Relations and Student Engagement.
“SGA created the event last year and we look forward to becoming a new tradition here at Wesleyan,” SGA President Abbey Borghee wrote in an email.
SGA is giving $1,000 to help fund the event, which will be held at Blue Mesa restaurant 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 2. The event is open to all graduating seniors.
Each senior will receive a gift and the food will be provided for the graduates.
SGA also voted to spend $865 to help pay for 3,000 temporary tattoos that will feature a ram’s head and will be used for events and athletic games. This is also a new way to get evening and weekend students involved in school spirit.
SGA Vice President Zahraa Saheb gave an update for the Building and Grounds Committee. She said the volleyball courts are still under construction and the intermural field is being worked on so students should be careful due to the un-level ground.
