The Student Government Association voted on Monday to help send two theatre students to the United States Institute for Theatre Technology’s (USITT) annual conference event.
According to the Theatre Technology Annual Conference Event Bill sponsored by Vice President Zahraa Saheb, the event will take place March 16-19 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“The USITT annual conference event is an extraordinary opportunity that sponsors the growth, education, and communication between theatre designers, theatre educators, working technicians and young artists from around the nation,” Saheb said.
The two students, Jorge Flores, sophomore, and Tyler Guse, junior, have also volunteered to assist with pre-conference activities taking place March 14 -16.
The SGA allocated about $1,500 to Flores and Guse for their seven-day hotel stay and registration fee, and Flores and Guse are very grateful.
“We’re ecstatic,” Guse said. “While attending USITT, we’re able to gain more knowledge and then bring back what we learn here to the university.”
