New Texas Wesleyan Student Government Association President Zahraa Saheb said Thursday that she looks forward to representing students and the university in the best way she can.

“When I am not speaking at an event, I will let my actions speak for me,” Saheb said during Wesleyan’s annual Awards Day ceremony, which drew around 200 people to Martin Hall during free period.

Saheb, who previously served as SGA’s vice president, was installed as the new president by university President Frederick Slabach, who welcomed the crowd and thanked everyone who took part in putting the ceremony together.

After the SGA presentation, the two masters of ceremonies, Dr. Stacia Campbell, associate professor of English, and Joe Allen Brown, dean of the freshman success and professor of Theatre Arts and Communication, introduced the winners of various awards.

The first awards were Mr. Wesleyan, Alex Lopez and Ms. Wesleyan, Amanda Bermejo.

Dr. Pam Rast was announced as the Earl Brown Distinguished Faculty Recipient.
