The Rams fell to the Texas A&M – Kingsville Javelinas on Saturday night 52-10. This was the first Rams away game of the season.
Avery Childs was the starting quarterback in Donovan Isom’s absence. Isom was removed with an undisclosed injury in the previous game, and it is currently unknown when he will be returning to the field. In his 1st and 10 interview earlier this week, head football coach Joe Prud’homme seemed hopeful that Isom will return to the field next week.
Childs connected with wide receiver Le’Mant Monroe to score the Rams’ touchdown in the first quarter on a 28-yard play. Kade Dixon kicked the extra point, making the score 7-7 early in the game. Soon after, the Javelinas scored a touchdown and remained ahead for the remainder of the game.
The Rams had a rough second quarter, giving up 24 points to the Javelinas between three touchdowns and a field goal. One of the touchdowns was scored within ten seconds of the second quarter beginning, and another was scored with only four seconds left.
The third quarter ended with a score of 52-7, making this game the first time since 2016 that the Javelinas scored more than 50 points in a single game, according to javelinaathletics.com.
In the fourth quarter, Dixon kicked a 28-yard field goal, making the score 52-10 with 8:44 left on the clock. This wound up being the final score of the night.
The Rams’ next game will be at home against the Texas College Steers at 7 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, go to ramsports.net.
