Byerly was one of around 230 students that graduated Saturday.graduate Saturday. University President Frederick Slabach said he was honored to be at the ceremony to congratulate each and every graduate.

“Congratulations to all the graduates,” he said. “I’m proud of all you, and it is an honour to be present at this ceremony.”

Dana Schultes, the ceremony’s keynote speaker, also addressed the audience.

“One of my mentors always said, never force anything,” said Schultes, who is Stage West’s executive producer, as well as an actress. “I learned that I was rewarded with a certain piece of mind, that it is only possible when you do let go.”

“It made me cry to see all my friends walk up the stage,” she said. “I’m extremely happy for each and every one of them.”
